I have to say the last two/three days have been my hardest in motherhood since the first few weeks and since I relocated Zee to her room. The teething monsters are in full swing and after trying my trusty natural remedies, we broke down and used medication. Motrin for the pain (and the one day of a low-grade fever) and Orajel Naturals for her gums. The Orajel worked almost instantly and gave us our first cry free hour in over 24 hours! I could have broke out in full Michael Jackson Thriller dance routine.
Along with the extreme teething episode came even less sleep for an already sleepless in ATL mama. I have to get serious about this sleep problem because it is really wreaking havoc on my overall health and sanity. For one lack of sleep + stress (teething is painful & stressful for all of us except the dog) = A carb crash for me! I have eaten more carbs in the last 48 hours than I have had in the last 4 weeks. And my water intake took a hit. Only 64 oz Friday & Saturday. Yesterday I drank 40 oz of water. Way below my daily goal. And how could I forget my slip and fall down the stairs on Saturday. One bruised butt cheek and a broken toe later I am still standing.
We are back on track today. Zoë slept a full 13 hours (she struggled to get 7-10 hours when the teething monsters wouldn’t let up.) And I actually got 8 hours in! Go Me!!!
Let’s see how the day goes.
My top remedies for teething:
1. Teething toys (any hard handheld toy will work)
2. Frozen fruit (bananas) or veggies (carrots) placed in mesh feeder.
3. Frozen washcloth
4. Ice (in mesh feeder)
5. Camomile Tea (can also freeze into cubes)
Other remedies I did not try but many moms love:
1. Hyland’s Teething Tablets (I did try these but they didn’t work for Zee)
2. Amber Necklace (I was way to scared to try this)
3. Celery (an acquired taste to say the least)
What did you use to sooth your teething baby? And to keep yourself sane?

January 30, 2014 at 3:57 PMI didn’ tknow my daughter was teething until the front ones had already popped through the gums, lol! I didn’t have issues with teething, until my daughters molars started coming in; I DO NOT MISS THOSE DAYS.
Have you ever thought of buying those Amber teething beads? They REALLY work. Amber has an element in it that is a natural pain reliever and anti-inflammatory, which is why people put them on babies.
