Spring break is coming up. How will you and your family spend the time? We have friends traveling out of town and friends coming in to visit us but all of our plans are centered around a staycation. Our spring break staycation will consist of lots of visits to the museum, art class, the aquarium plus picnics and playdates. Since we have our family reunion coming up and a family vacation, a staycation is a perfect way for us to get to know more of our town and hang out with good friends.
5 Spring Break Staycation Ideas
Picnic
Scavenger Hunt
Garden Stroll & Nature Lessons
Playground Date
Visit a Landmark or Amusement Park
My favorite of these is simply having a picnic. I am a totally “have a picnic” mama so before the pollen and the heat takeover, we have already started our picnic and playground playdates. Last week we went to art class and enjoyed working on a pot of gold masterpiece for St. Patricks Day. After that a bunch of us went to the playground and later that afternoon we had a picnic with cousins. I kept our picnic lunch simple with grill cheese sandwiches, fresh fruits and carrots and our favorite Juicy Juice drinks.
Listen, Zoe has become such a picky eater but grill cheese is always a yes. She usually gets two per week which is on school days but I made an exception for our picnic because my nieces wanted grill cheese sandwiches too. Plus they are easy to prep, taste good at room temperature and the cleanup is a breeze.
Fruits and a veggie are always a part of our picnic menu and while we always have water, the girls enjoyed their Juicy Juice Berry & Juicy Juice Splashers too. The splashers are half water and half 100% juice and, of course, the Juicy Juice Berry is 100% juice. No mom can be mad at that.
Will you be enjoying a spring break staycation or will you be going on a grand adventure? Share your plans.
*Thank you Juicy Juice for sending us juice boxes & pouches for our staycation. As always all opinions are my own.*

April 8, 2016 at 10:02 AMGreat ideas! Pollen and heat are an issue for us too. We usually hit the zoo during spring break, but it really hasn’t been warm enough. When we do, a picnic lunch is always the plan, and I am pretty sure that Juicy Juice has made the trip with us before and will again 🙂

April 9, 2016 at 2:27 PMI am so stressed about this pollen around here. I’ve never had allergies the way I do now. It’s horrible. I’m a city girl so I am use to being outdoors once the weather turns but it’s not so easy in the South.

April 11, 2016 at 9:11 AMMy allergies were terrible when I first moved here too (ATL). But, if I can get through the beginning of Spring then I’m usually OK. I manage my symptoms by taking a Zyrtec tablet at night and using Flonase nasal spray in the morning (also making sure to wash my face as soon as I get home). This routine has been very effective for me and I only need it in April and May then I’m good for the summer!

April 9, 2016 at 6:32 AMWe love Juicy juice! My son isn’t picnic age yet so he wouldn’t even appreciate it lol. Plus it’s still too cold here.

April 9, 2016 at 11:53 PMAww, I used to love staycations as a kid! I still have wonderful memories! The funny thing is, I remember the picnics as much as the amusement parks! Just shows you don’t have to spend a lot to impress children 🙂

April 10, 2016 at 3:19 PMThe girls are such little ladies. My little is a total juicy juice boxer, I love that I can get her the toddler size and she isn’t drinking as much.
Are those cara cara oranges?

April 11, 2016 at 1:39 PMIt’s still too cold for a picnic in NYC, but these are great ideas. It’s always good to keep the kids busy when they’re not in school.
