A few weeks ago, I shared my truth about not practicing self care. I shared about my skin issues but truly I have a lot of work to do in the self care space. But lets face it, I’m not getting any younger so neglecting my skin is just not cool. Another issue I’ve had since becoming a mom is spending money on myself. Why is it that such a hard thing to do once you become a mom? I even used that excuse for not investing in products I know would help on my skin. It’s like I no longer mattered to me. My hubs would even encourage me to go to the spa, get my hair done or just do something for me. Somehow, I always find an excuse for why I can’t. But things had to change.
BeforeI decided to get myself together. It’s long overdue and at the end of the day, I want to look good and feel good. I also want to be an example of the importance of self care for my children, especially my daughter. I want her to know that she should always take care of herself and that putting herself on the back burner is not an option. So to start my self-care journey (again), I joined the Olay 28 Day Challenge using products from the Olay Luminous line. I figured committing to a face routine for 28 days would be easy enough.
The Olay 28 Day Challenge
For 28 days, I replaced my current cleanser, prep steps and facial moisturizer to exclusively use the Olay Luminous products in the following 4-step regimen:
Step 1: AM (if needed) and PM cleanse with the Olay Luminous Micellar Water
Step 2: AM and PM apply Olay Luminous Miracle Boost Concentrate
Step 3: AM apply Olay Luminous Light Hydrating Lotion
Step 4: PM apply Olay Luminous Overnight Mask
My main facial skin issues are
- Dry t-zone and hair line
- Hyper pigmentation spots around my face
- Combination skin
- Dark circles under my eyes
After 14 DaysMy grandmother used Olay. My mom uses Olay. Me? I don’t know what I’ve been waiting for. And after these 28 days, here’s what I learned…
- A great face routine doesn’t have to be expensive.
- Sticking to a daily routine is key to having beautiful skin.
- The Olay Luminous line works.
- I have the time and the desire to take care of me.
- A glow on the outside helps me to glow on the inside.
After 28 days, several compliments from friends and a “you have great skin” comment from an employee at a makeup counter, I am definitely an Olay Luminous fan. I will not be going back to life without Olay.
After
My skin is glowing. While I wasn’t expecting a glow, I am so happy to wake up looking fresh, especially with the long nights I have with my sleepless toddler. The glow is real and very much appreciated. My dry spots are also gone. I am convinced the Olay Luminous Overnight Mask is a miracle worker and made the biggest impact on my dry t-zone and cheeks. My skin is so much more even. I’m still fighting the dark eyes (come on Baby E and genetics) but overall, I’m happy and hooked on Olay. I’m even wearing lipstick just because now.
I truly believe when you look good, you feel good. The Olay 28 Day Challenge using products from the Olay Luminous line has been great for my skin and my mama confidence. I’m walking around glowing and that makes all the difference in the long days (and nights) of motherhood.
What does daily self care look like for you?
