This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Disney’s Queen of Katwe. All opinions are 100% mine.
I finally watched Queen Of Katwe this weekend and of course, I cried. But within those tears also came a realization. I need to get myself all the way together and PUSH to make my move. This year I’ve set some personal goals that will happen. Today I am going to go ahead and share a few of them because I need to put it out there for the world to see. I’m also sharing because this week Zoe and I have been reading about entrepreneurship. I’m teaching her that she can grow up to be anything she wants to be including a business owner. Because I know she is watching my every move, putting my goals out in the universe is a must.
Make Your Move
Publish A Book
I wrote a children’s book mamas. It’s more than just a book, it’s interactive and fun and teaching a valuable life skill. But it has been sitting on my virtual shelf for almost 2 years. Can you imagine? But I am making my move to publish this book in September.
It’s funny how a movie can make you remember certain things about yourself. I remember so may times that I have been afraid to do something because I didn’t think I was worthy or good enough. For all the confidence Phiona had about her game of chess when it was time to make her move on the biggest stage of her life, she resigned from the game. That has been me time and time again but like Phiona, I have a wonder coach or two rallying me to make this book happen. One of my first friends and mentors when I started Fab Haute Mama, is someone I can still count on to ask me the tough questions and make me commit to taking the next step. And funny enough, she is of African descent. Christine, I heard you loud and clear while watching Queen of Katwe. Loud and clear.
Make Your Move
Something Fun for Kids
And then there are my unofficial coaches who remind me that “You belong here” like Coach Katende did for Phiona. Just this week Ariel & Vashti gave me that reassurance which prompted me to respond to an email about another project I’ve been stalling on. It’s something else for the kids. Something fun, cute and stylish. So once again I made my move and this project will be launched on or before 11/29/17. I’ve also set major milestones to be reached by specific dates I’ve picked on my calendar. And I would like to celebrate all these beautiful things with my mom for her 70th birthday which is the end of this year.
So thank you, Christine, Vashti, and Ariel. And thank you, Queen of Katwe because I have started to make moves. Have you seen the movie? You can get it now on Digital HD & Disney Movies Anywhere or on Blu-ray on 1/31.
Have you started to make your move? What motivates and inspires you to keep going?
