My mind is made up about running my first half marathon before the end of 2014. My mind is made up. I am almost 100% sure which race I want to run. I am almost 100% sure which training plan I will be following. But what I’m not sure of is if my mind and my body are ready for the challenge. I’m giving the Vega Sport Endurance Gel a try for the latter. Why?
My body! Post motherhood, I have struggled with finding the strength and energy to push through a run. I have tried all sorts of things, gum (for breathing), peanut butter in a baggy, dried dates, jelly beans but nothing seems to sustain me past 3 miles. Well until now. Thanks to #VegaSportGel, I may have finally found the answer.
What I love about the Vega Sport Endurance Gel:
The Boost: Sure this gel is designed for endurance athletes and long distance runners but for someone like me anything past 3 miles can be a struggle. I decided to give the gel a try on a 5 mile run. A 5 mile run takes me about 1 hour but after the first 35-40 minutes I am ready to through in the towel. Intro #VegaSportGel. I took one gel pack mid run and low and beyond I was able to finish strong. I completed my 5 miles is 54 minutes which is a record for me. After my run, I decided to take a hike up the rock. It’s been months since I climbed so I figured why not? I have the energy. Go Vega! Next time I will try taking a gel 30 minutes before my run to #FuelYourBetter
The Taste: Raspberry. I like raspberries. I like them a lot! So yeah I loved the taste. I needed to down some water after but that’s because uhhhh, I have issues. Nothing major I just have to drink something after I “eat.” And the word gel just makes me feel yucky (told you I have issues.) If you like raspberries, then these are for you.
Ingredients: All natural. Need I say more? I have not and will not buy into the numerous “healthy” products out there and claim to help you. I’ll stick to my banana and now Vega for a boost. Thanks.
What I didn’t love but can live with:
Size: The gel packet is pretty big. Not ridiculously big but I like to squeeze everything into my waist pouch. It stretches so this really isn’t too much of a biggie. Now if the pouch would just stay in place.
Texture: As mentioned above, the word gel just makes me squirm. Not a deal breaker by any means.
Verdict: Vega Sport Endurance Gel is a winner. I will definitely use it again. Follow Vega Sport on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to learn more about Fuel Your Better and the full line of Vega Sport products.

August 6, 2014 at 10:27 AMI’m not a runner- although I need to be. I never heard of this gel before and it sounds like it would be good for me.

August 7, 2014 at 12:18 AMJoin me Louida. I still do lots of run/walking and I actually prefer the run/walk method. Look up Jeff Galloway method and let me know if you ever want to meet up for a run 🙂

August 6, 2014 at 6:42 PMI’ve been using Clif Shot Blocks to fuel for my half marathon training. They’re great for me so far, I used them halfway through an 8 mile run and followed it with water. They’re chewy but I like it. I think gels would freak me out too lol!

August 7, 2014 at 12:16 AMGlad I’m not the only with a gel “issue” LOL. But seriously, these worked well. Clif shots as in Clif Bars? Hope so because I love Clif Bars…maybe a little too much.
