National Running Day: I Run…

Hooray! Today is National Running Day. Will you be running today? I will be running today and here are some of the reasons why.

National Running Day

There is something so liberating about doing the things you want to do and doing the things you CAN do. There are so many people who would run if they could. Why not me? On Memorial Day I ran in honor of Elijah. Today, I run because I can.

National Running Day

No I’m not quitting my favorite things. In fact add french-fries, fried chicken and ribs to this list. I don’t indulge every day but I indulge and when I do I don’t feel guilty about it. Well sometimes I do but not enough to stop. I run so I can indulge in chocolate, wine, and bacon on occasion.

National Running Day

Yes running is fun if you make it fun. Sure I want to run a little bit faster and a little bit further each time but mostly I just want to have fun. I’ve met great people who are now friends through running. We have shared hugs, cheers, sprints, high-fives and so much more. I run because it FUN!

National Running Day

Yep and for the same reasons I run for chocolate, wine & bacon. See above ⬆️

National Running Day

This is the most important reason I run. For the love of my body, for the privilege of life and because running helps me laugh and fight stress (read depression.) I run because I want to live to see my toddler enjoy her first dance recital, art show and graduation. I run because sometimes it equates to a date with my love. I run because sometimes I get to laugh at myself for tripping over my own too feet or being human (insert bodily function). I run for LOVE, LIFE & LAUGHTER!

If you don’t run, you should. It’s pretty easy to start. Just put one foot in front of the other. Start with a walk, then add in a few short runs (like 30 seconds) and before you know it you will be saying “I Run…” Want to see why other’s run? Check out the link up on Olive To Run

Happy National Running Day!

Why do you run? Or why will you start?

Thanks Shirley. So many people can’t do it and I don’t take the fact that I can for granted.

I really need to start running. I keep using the excuse that I’m busy but like you said, I would like to live long to see my children grow up so I need to get serious about it.

Hey Louida. Give it a shot. Slow and steady wins the race. I know you’re in ATL so maybe we can meet up for a run (or jog or walk)

Great post. I have tried running but I always feel lightheaded afterwards so I took that as a sign that running is not for me. I love that you run for french fries. They are my guilty pleasure as well.

Hey Brittany. I still get lightheaded at times. If you want to try again do a run/walk method. Jeff Galloway Method is really great for run/walk. I still use it when I am not feeling 100%. French Fries really should be on the good food list. Let’s start a petition. LOL

LOL Vee. Pick a day, leave a hint for the hubby (like lay his running gear out) and go for it after dinner. It’s a great mini date.

As a runner, I am loving this post. Many people don’t see the fun or beauty in running but it certainly has its benefits. I use the time to clear my mind..kinda like many do during yoga. Not to mention…this foodie have to work off those extra calories some how. LOL. Yes….ribs, fried chicken and everything else. Peace, Love & Blessings! #BLMGirl #SITSGirl
