Today is National Stress Awareness Day. Actually April is Stress Awareness Month. Stress can lead to physical illness and mental distress. I spent many years stressing situations that were out of my control. I stressed about decisions I could not take back. I stressed about not hearing from God (or so I thought.) I spent a long time in depression and even today if I feel stressed I feel myself drifting back to that dark place. Now I tend to look at things differently and I don’t stress much.
Of course I stress and have crazy anxiety when it comes to being Zoe’s mother. Is she ok? is she breathing? Has she had enough to eat? Am I teaching her enough? Am I a good mother? And the list goes on and on. Psst… When does this end mamas? or at least subside? A still newish mom (ME) needs to know. Thanks with a whole lot of hugs and kisses!
One of the ways I relief stress is working out. Going for my solo runs always does the trick. Even when I run with Zoe and the jogger, I still feel relaxed and less stressed after. Now that The Hubs (that’s how I refer to my hubby) are working out together I have another opportunity to relief stress and burn calories. He is my boxing/lifting coach. And our workout sessions are considered date nights. Yes a workout session is a perfect date night. Sometimes the date continues after the workout is over, hehehe.
I also find cooking helps me to relief stress. It always has. It’s a bit tricky now with a toddler who loves being a part of the kitchen fun. Let’s see how Kitchen 101 will work with Zoe snooping around. I am convinced she is going to be a chef! FYI, If you’re thinking about buying her toys her request are: An immersion blender, a Le Creuset french oven, and the complete attachment set for her KitchenAid mixer. Zoe I thank you 🙂
