Thank God for technology and mommy friends. This April & May, 3 of my besties and I had babies. That’s right 4 babies in 6 weeks by 4 best friends. Now imagine how our lives got flipped turned upside down (I love that Fresh Prince line. Yes I’m old!) at the same time. Our days quickly became all about the babies (and for two of us our toddlers too) and getting adjusted to the new norm. Not to mention 3 of us were recovering from C-sections in the process. We decided to set up a group chat to stay in touch when phone calls became impossible. Our chats are priceless and the conversations cover all things mom, baby, work and life. Recently we talked about the before babies and after babies responses to questions we get asked. Here are some examples.
Question: How is work?
Before: Glad it’s the weekend. Work was work but now we are off to the Hamptons for a few days.
After: Work never ends. The SAHM job is a 24 hour position. And our one friend that has returned to her corporate job says ” Sigh, I’m tired and the baby hasn’t seen enough of me. The housekeeper and I have lots to do.”
What’s up for the weekend?
Before: Hamptons, brunch & a day party with college friends.
After: Laundry, play dates, more laundry, and baby food making.
How are your workouts going?
Before: I’m up to 5 miles at a 10 minute per mile pace and 2 minute planks. I’m beach ready all year round.
After: Workout? You mean arm lifting the baby everywhere? Not to mention that TMI discussion we had about bladder leakage. I can barely laugh, cough or sneeze much less enjoy my 15 minute workout because I’m embarrassed about what’s going on down under.
But of course I (the research mom of the pack) have a solution for this pesky little problem. So we pause to discuss Poise Impressa Bladder Supports. My mom friends are impressed that we can use these for up to 8 hours in a 24 hour period, they are discrete and being able to laugh, cough, dance, exercise and sneeze without worrying about leakage sealed the deal. We each ran out to CVS to pick up a sizing packet.
What’s for dinner?
Before: We are having a lobster boil and some Prosecco straight from Italy.
After: Dinner? Let me see what I have in my freezer stash. Oh a lasagna my mom made. That’s it and some oatmeal for lactation purposes.
We also laughed about the current state of our bags…
What’s in our bags?
Before: Lipstick, mascara, cell phone, tablet, a too big wallet full of receipts that represent fun, flats and the latest issue of In Style Magazine.
After: Well the bag belongs to the baby of course so we manage to squeeze in a small cosmetics case with our necessities plus a cell phone. Here’s what’s in my bag:
-
Lipstick & balm
-
Mascara, eye liner, makeup compact
-
Hair clip
-
Travel sized deodorant (because these hormones!)
-
Earrings
-
Poise Impressa
I pretty much fit my life into this case and it goes from baby bag, to gym bag and occasionally in a date bag depending on where we are going. My most important items are lipgloss, earrings and my Poise Impressa because I feel like my old self with them. Poise Impressa does not interfere with my normal bathroom routines (you get the picture) but it can not be worn if you are pregnant or having your cycle even though it is inserted like a tampon. Sizing isn’t about how tall you are or how much you weigh, it’s all about the best internal fit for you so start with Size 1 and if it is not a good fit try the next size up. Want to try out the kit? You can get $1 off the Poise Impressa Starter Kit with a printable coupon at CVS while available.
And the question that has changed the most…
Before: How are you?
After: How are the kids?
LOL. You know everyone asks about the kids first. We have vowed to ask about one another first at least half the time. I can enjoy laughs with fellow mom friends in the trenches, get my body back workout on and go out on the occasional date with the Hubs with confidence thanks to Poise Impressa.
What would you do and what are your chats like post baby? And of course I need to know what’s in your bag?

September 18, 2015 at 10:51 PMMy mama used to always say that people forget about you once you have a baby. It’s so true! Stashing all your stuff in a cosmetics purse and moving it to each bag you use is pretty smart. I need to start doing that.

September 19, 2015 at 8:40 AMGirl it is so true. I get full convos in all about the kids and most times I never get asked how I’m doing. Sometimes I interject how I am doing. LOL. And yes to the cosmetics bag. It is everything!

September 19, 2015 at 7:30 PMI just saw a commercial for these Poise products. Sounds cool if you need it. I also like the idea putting everything is a small bag. I think I’m seriously going to try that.

September 21, 2015 at 4:09 PMYes I saw the commercial for them too and chuckled. Times have changed and it’s good to see new products come on the market for women. Definitely go with the small mommy only bag. It’s a lifesaver.

September 21, 2015 at 4:07 PMI know you do. Just when I got back to a smaller bag, here came Baby E. Now I am rocking a backpack because I need both hands to tend to these two. My cosmetics case goes everywhere with me!

September 20, 2015 at 11:07 PMLOL! Yup, I can definitely relate on many of these comments after three kids 🙂 Sooo I’ve never heard of these Poise Impressa but love how discreet they are so I would imagine you don’t even know you’re wearing them. I have all types of stuff in my purse but now that my youngest is 4, it’s starting to (almost) look like it was before I had kids…almost.

September 21, 2015 at 4:05 PMOh Christine I can imagine the conversations you’ve had being the mom of 3. Cheers to almost getting your bag back. I have a long way to go.
