A Lesson in Taking Action

Action

As you know my one word for 2014 is ACTION.  I will say that I have taken more action than in the past few months but I have a long way to go.  For me getting the tasks I planned done each day is a big accomplishment.  But today while attending church I realized something about ACTION.

Today’s message came from the book of Daniel Chapter 6. The verse that spoke to me in reference to ACTION is verse 10: Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.

Chapter 6 is very familiar as the story of Daniel surviving in the lions den. My personal message in Chapter 6 comes in these words:

“Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.”

You see regardless of what was going on and the plot against him, Daniel prayed and gave thanks to God “just as he had done before.” He never stopped believing and continued to be obedient in his works because that is what he had been taught as a child and what he continued to do as an adult. Daniel was disciplined and faithful.

So it’s very simple.

In order to take meaningful ACTION, you have to be DISCIPLINED, CONSISTENT and FAITH-FILLED!

I have a lot of work to do in terms of discipline and consistency as it applies to my health, my business goals and my must meet action item of completing my first half marathon in 2014. Tomorrow is a new day to get better at it. I am ready.

Have you learned anything about yourself, your one word or goals for 2014?

We still have 49  weeks left in 2014 to make it happen. Stay the course.

Amen! Staying the course is hard. I have been trying to stay on course and work toward some goals. The problem is the goals are clearly defined as to the processes so sometimes I feel like I’m just toiling away at nothing.

I have been praying for God to give me clarity and direct my steps!

      Hi Mimi,
Thanks for stopping. By. I definitely understand and relate to how you feel. Let’s stay the course together. I have always loved this from church ” you pray for me and I’ll pray for you.” Let take that quote and keep one another accountable with action towards our goals!
