Thank you, Denny’s for inviting Fab Haute Mama to be an official #DennysDiner ambassador.
As always all opinions are my own.
This should come as no surprise to any mom: Sometimes I just don’t feel like cooking. There I said it and I am not ashamed. There are many reasons why. It use to be that I was just tired but now, for the most part, it’s the picky toddler. Like seriously, a picky toddler will have you thinking everything you cook is just “yucky” as Zoe says. It’s exhausting. It is very exhausting! The debating, the hand holding for feeding and the random crying.
Let Kids Pick Dinner
Sometimes when this mama is tired, I ask one simple question “What do you want for dinner?” When kids pick dinner, the answer can be anything from grill cheese to cereal to a bowl of fruit. Last week the answer was “pancakes”. Great easy enough until the toddler decides she doesn’t want me to make the pancakes. She wants to go to Denny’s for pancakes. “Mommy, let’s go get my pancakes at Denny’s!” she says with delight. And so we go because breakfast for dinner is always a good thing. Plus when mama is tired, and since kids eat free on Tuesdays evenings, we are off to Denny’s.
The kids menu is expansive as you can see. They can choose from breakfast, lunch or dinner options. Kids eat free does not include a beverage or dessert but those items are cheap too so it’s all good. Each adult entree entitles you to one free kid meal. This last outing, I went with the baked salmon entree with steamed broccoli and roasted potatoes.
As stated, Zoe is here for the pancakes. We are working on her knife and fork and pancakes are perfect for practicing cutting skills.
Baby E was our sidekick and as always, he is carefree and eats whatever we are eating.
And boy does he eat. I am in serious trouble when it comes to this boy’s food budget.
The kids menu also comes with a fun activity section and Denny’s gives crayons so mama doesn’t have to do too much entertaining. The staff is wonderful which is great because dinner with two toddlers tends to get messy. I find myself apologizing for the mess but each and every time, the staff has always been helpful. This mama always needs support in her corner so thank you!
It’s so funny for me to see Baby E entertain himself like a big boy.
So yes, when you don’t feel like cooking, let the kids pick, give yourself the night off and then make Denny’s your destination on Tuesday evenings.
