This Memorial Day we celebrate the life of Elijah Milliard. A strong, handsome, kind, God fearing young man who gave the ultimate sacrifice on July 4, 2013. Errol “Elijah” Milliard was killed in action while on duty in Afghanistan. To think I remember the day he was born just as well as I remember the day he passed away. It was an honor to know and love you my sweet nephew. Thank you for having the courage to step up for the freedom of others. We miss you and love you always.
So while you enjoy the celebrations that go along with this unofficial start to summer, remember the families who honor the lives of their loved ones on this and every day of every year that passes without them. Today I will be running 5 miles for Elijah. As much as I don’t want to do anything but sit here and look at pictures of you, I am hitting the pavement in your honor. It is the least I can do to celebrate your life and your sacrifice.

June 4, 2014 at 10:59 PMSo sorry to hear about your nephew MJ. As a mom I can’t imagine the loss of a child. God bless your family and may your nephew continue to rest in paradise until you meet again.
