2014 is underway and I am determined to be on my way right along with it. As you know MY ONE WORD for 2014 is ACTION. Taking action sounds pretty simple right? Yet sometimes it’s not. One of the things I struggled with during my first year of motherhood was finding time for myself. Some days a shower was the highlight of my “me” time (and trust me sometimes getting a shower in was no easy feat.) Many of my 2014 “resolutions” involve taking time out for me. The 31 Day Fly Mom Challenge from Christine at Moms N Charge is a sure-fire way to get your Mommy Me Time in. There are 31 Days in January. Each day holds 1440 minutes. Did you know that? Can you find at least 31 minutes each day to complete the Fly Mom Challenge? Yes you can and yes you will!
31 minutes per day is just the start. Right after my relax time (challenge #1 on the list) I had some more free time available because Zoe was still taking her nap. During this time I thought about when my 31 minutes (and more) would take place. I like to have a schedule for the day even though I can only seem to stick to the part which involves Zoe. The Fly Mom Challenge can easily be utilized by busy all busy women. Before I became a mom, I worked a hectic job sometimes putting in 12 hour days if not longer. Even then I struggled to take time out for me. I’m sure many career driven women face the same struggle.
Here are a few suggestions for getting in your Fly Mom Challenge time:
1. Early in the morning before everyone wakes up.
2. During nap time
3. In the evening once the baby, husband, pets go down for the night. Yes sometimes your me time will have to come after the husband is asleep.
4. During the day if you have a sitter (daddy time counts here) or if your child is in daycare/school.
5. While you are out running errands. Take a few minutes or 31 to just walk, be still in the car or relax on the husband chair near the department store fitting room (yes I have done this).
