A Holiday Party Look by Zoe

A casual and fun holiday party look styled by a 4 year old. Stride Rite Stone High Tops, Janie & Jack and OshKosh for the win.

One of the things I didn’t really get until  I became a mother is how full my kids social calendar can be. Don’t get me wrong, I love that my kids get to have a good time with family and friends but it’s EXHAUSTING. And when birthdays surround the holidays, I’m almost ready to throw the towel in. But my little social butterfly Zoe won’t allow it. She’s always ready to go and always ready to dress up for any occasion. She has her own very big opinions and I’m ok with that. Here’s an outfit she picked out for a party. Her holiday party look is on point if I must say so myself.

I have to admit while I love big dresses and patent leather shoes, I love a more casual look that’s dressed up for the holidays. Denim or is chambray? Either way, that plus high-tops work for me and apparently it works for Zoe too. She started with these cute high-tops from Stride Rite and worked her way up. The stockings were the only executive decision this mama had to make. She wanted to go with a striped number with far too many colors. LOL.

High Tops

I shared Zoe’s look with a few of my fashionable moms and we all agree that these high-tops need to come in mama sizes. Come on Stride Rite, this would make the perfect mama and me holiday party look come together. And please add these to the big girl category too. Big Z would love a pair too. Comfort + cute = Yes. Dress up or dress down = Yes. A touch of shimmer = YES, YES, YES! Real moms rock high-tops. LOL.

Tulle on Tulle On Tulle

This tulle skirt has been in Z’s closet for over a year. It’s still big in the waist but a little pinning (and a little shifting)  did the trick for this look. I tried to get her to wear a different skirt but nope, she vetoed that idea. I gathered myself and got out of her way. LOL. It’s just the right amount of tulle with a hint of shimmer. Not over the top, not boring.

Denim

So what’s the different between denim and chambray anyway? Whatever. Z has a few denim shirts in her closet. Denim shorts are kind of an obsession for me. I’m hoping to pass this down to Zoe (insert evil laugh here). She picked out the light wash and it was perfect.

Shoulder Bag

No “lady’ should leave the house without a bag. I was eyeing the small furry purse she has but Z went for the bling. She made the right choice. Crossbody bags are perfect for little ladies. They love them plus they are easier to keep track of.

Headband

Where are you silver crown? Stop hiding from us. This would have been my over the top addition to her holiday look but Z wanted to go with this one instead and I think it works. Not that my opinion matters.

Little Lady Coat & Hat

Another beauty that’s still a little too big but come on, how cute is this coat and hat combo? I love a good dress coat. Even if the look underneath is more laid back, a little lady coat goes a long way with style. Z has tried to wear this more times than I can count. It’s still a bit big but I let her rock it for this occasion. It adds a little old world flair to this holiday party look, don’t you think?

Do you let your kids pick out their own outfits? How over the top or subtle do they get? What holiday party look will they be rocking this season?

P.S. I’m the mom that declines a lot of invites for my kids. I am not ashamed. More on this later because the truth needs to be shared. Happy Holidays!

*Thank you to Stride Rite for helping Zoe get holiday ready this season. #teamstriderite *

Thanks Christine. Zoe is all in when it’s time to get dressed. I’m more like “how about this simple dress?” LOL. THe boots are a must. I say we start a petition. And get your girls their dress coats. Your mom will approve.

So cute and adorable! This is the second look I’ve seen on her and I love her style. So glad you give her freedom of style expression.

Thank you, Danika. Yep, she is free to rock what she wants. I have the laundry to prove it. Wardrobe changes are a nightmare but I still love it. LOL
