So about this weight thing. I’m over it! Or should I say I am over myself? Either way, I am over this extra weight I’ve been carrying around. It’s exhausting (physically and mentally), I can’t think of many more ways to make leggings work as pants and I’m tired of looking pregnant. I just want to be a healthier me which means dropping these pounds, using better judgment when it comes to food and working out consistently.
A few weeks ago, I saw a pic of an old classmate celebrating her 40th birthday. She hasn’t aged at all. She looks fabulous and you know what? I am not jealous. I am motivated. I want to look and feel fabulous when my MJ 4.0 (writing 40.0 just doesn’t have the same zing) rolls in. I’ve mapped out my workout plan, signed up for a few races and started my Jenny Craig journey.
Why Jenny Craig? I needed a big change. Now I can’t lie to you, at first the thought of packaged food made my eyes roll 10 times over. But let me be real… I have ZERO control when it comes to portions. ZERO! A plate of pasta is a whole plate of pasta in my eyes. I’ve tried counting calories and so many of the popular diet/eating change things but I was forever lying to myself. Lying because who is going to check how much I actually ate vs what I put in my food tracker. Suddenly a whole steak is now 4 oz. No, it is not. So my game plan is to work on portion control and Jenny Craig is perfect for that.
I didn’t want to share what I’ve been doing until I was actually feeling better about it. The first 3-4 days on Jenny Craig was hard. I could not get over how small the portions are. How could I make it with this little bit of food? But here I am, feeling mostly satisfied and learning more and more about just how much I was lying to myself about my food consumption.
I also have a Jenny Craig coach. Hey, Samantha! We chat weekly about my healthier me goals, my successes, struggles and how I am feeling on the plan. Imagine this sweets-loving gal had to tell her coach that she is not a fan of the sweets options for breakfast. We had a good laugh about that. I love this part of the plan. I opted to go with Jenny Craig Anywhere instead of going to a center because of kids and schedules and nap time and a hubby with a crazy work schedule. So if you can’t get to a center, Jenny Craig Anywhere is perfect. You can talk or video chat with your consultant any time that works for you.
Stay tuned for my progress with Jenny Craig and my favorite foods (I’m looking at you sausage gravy scramble and fish chips). There are more than 100 premium menu items to love created by 40 professional chefs. I am so serious, the food is good y’all. And the snacks… BOMB! Smores Bars, I heart you.
Do you struggle with portion control? Share some tips with me because a healthier me by 40 is a goal I will meet. P.S. I am not pregnant in this pic. Proves the point of this entire post.
