Thank you SheSpeaks & Five Below for sponsoring this post.
There was no such thing as Five Below or a Five Below Haul when I was a preteen. When I was growing up, my cousins and I would spend weekends at our grandmother’s. There is a lot of us so there was no shortage of fun, laughs, a few arguments, lots of food and outings. We would go to the mall to shop or to the local shopping district aka Flatbush Ave. I lived for my weekly allowance so I could buy what I wanted. Lots of books and trinkets. That was my thing. Fast forward to today and now I am the one shuffling kids around for playdates and shopping.
This weekend, my cousin and I enjoyed a girls day out with our girls. We stopped in Five Below so the girls could get their shop on. We gave each girl a $10 gift card with instructions of using at least $2 towards the charity boxes for kids we would be packing later. Even my little lady Zoe was excited to shop and boy did she. So much so I ended up putting a whole cart of goodies back when she wasn’t looking but she did end up with just the right amount of items for herself and for charity.
So here is the thing, I’ve never been in Five Below before this trip. The girls have been but I usually stay home with the baby so I was pretty excited to check it out. Now that I have been, I will be back with or without the girls. LOL. Talk about finding so many goodies. For the preteen set, there is so much to choose from including cute bags, socks, accessories for their phones and crafting items. The tot had lots to choose from too. She was super excited over all the coloring books, crayons and games. As for me, I scored some lounge pants, a new cell phone case with stylus (swoon) and a lovely adult coloring book. I can’t believe Five Below’s coloring book selection for adults. These things are usually super expensive. I had to stop myself from buying all of them. I settled on this little cutie.
Here is our Five Below Haul

The girls were super excited to be able to pick out just what they wanted and pay for it with their own money (gift cards). It was a perfect opportunity to throw in a lesson on budgets. Two of the girls had to put a few items back because they were over budget. Let’s not forget about the tot and her extra cart! Mama had the budget to spend a little more so some of the items I picked up including Christmas cards to mail out.
I’ll be heading back to Five Below to snag a few Christmas gifts especially cute stocking stuffers for the whole family since everything is $5 or below. The big family tradition continues with 10-12 preteens to shop most of which are girls. They can get cool fun stuff they need. And since I found some cute stuff for myself, I’m sure I’ll be able to grab some gifts for the adults on my list too.
Have you shopped at Five Below? If not what are you waiting for.

December 15, 2015 at 11:47 PMI love the idea of packing the boxes. I haven’t been to Five Below yet but they have one I’ve been meaning to check out. Why is Zoe is grown up in that photo? She’s getting really tall 🙂
