This weeks Friday Five Link-up is dedicated to Fitness Snapshots. I enjoy linking up with Mar of Mar on the Run, Courtney of Eat Pray Run DC and Cynthia of You Signed Up For What. They make me laugh, provide great inspiration and are really sweet ladies.
1. Top of the “Rock”
Here I am at the top of Stone Mountain. This was my first climb post motherhood. I loved it. I really should do it more but most days I am out with Little Z for my runs….
2. Stroller Striding
A 10K training run with Zoe. We did most of our runs in Stone Mountain Park and of course we hit up the playground after almost every run.
3. Date Night
We get creative when it comes to date night. We can’t always make it out to dinner or the movies or anywhere for that matter so we workout together. The Hubs built a mini gym in the basement so we lift, box and do calisthenics. He’s my coach and you know I love it and hate it at the same time. LOL
4. A Throwback
This is me during track practice back in High School circa 1992 or ’93. I was probably doing a 200 or 400 interval. I love looking at this picture because it reminds me of how much fun running track was. I never enjoyed our “cross country” sessions with the long distance runners, but sprinting was like running passed all the bad times, running to the good times and enjoy the wind all around me. Track saved me during some pretty hard times as a teenager. This pic also reminds me of the slenderness. Hey, a girl can dream right?
5. Then And Now”ish”
On the left is my very first 5K. Funny I went out to cheer my girls on and someone didn’t show up so the ladies convinced me to go for it. I was only running with Black Girls Run for 3-4 weeks when this race happened. I enjoyed it so much I stuck with it. Then I got pregnant and things stopped. But fast forward to 2014 and here I am on the right at the start of my first 5K as a mom. Yep my Nike pullover has been with me for a very long time. And FYI, I prefer to run in cool to cold weather. I need serious tips on managing in the heat because I just can not! Since then I have done a few more 5K and just completed my first 10K. God blessed us with beautiful warm not inferno hot temperatures that day.

July 14, 2014 at 4:13 PMThe good old track days. Oh to be slim and swift again. LOL. Thanks Courtney and thank you for the tips on running in the heat. A rare cold front is passing this week so it will be less humid and in the 80’s as of tomorrow. YES!

July 12, 2014 at 10:47 AMI love that you have a little “Z” too!! How old is your little one?
You are a beast that you run over 6 miles pushing a jogging stroller!! I did 6 miles once with Z but that was a long time ago. The most I do with him these days is between 3-4 miles.
#3 might be my favorite! I think that is wonderful that you guys have a gym in your basement and you guys choose to do something active for date night than going out to dinner/movie every time. My hubby and I would much rather do something active as well when we have free time, either just a run together or doing some trail running.
I’m so glad you stopped by my blog so I could find yours!!
