Family Holiday Traditions

Making memories with family holiday traditions. Outfits from Oshkosh, cutting our own tree, special ornaments.

This post is sponsored by Everywhere Agency on behalf of OshKosh B’gosh; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

The Christmas holiday excitement is in full swing all around us. Is it me or did Christmas get bumped up much quicker this year? I’m not mad at all but we don’t get into the fun until after 11/29 because that’s Zoe’s birthday and she is not about to let anyone or anything skip over her special day. Neither am I. But now that she is officially the Big 5, its time for us to get started on holiday prep including some new family holiday traditions.

Our Holiday Traditions

The Tree

As a child, I remember how excited I was when my mom went out to buy our Christmas tree. I remember the first time I went out to buy my own Christmas tree for my very first apartment. I kept my mom’s tips with me on picking out the perfect real tree. So this year, I finally convinced the hubs to get a real tree and we went big. To me this is the first of our family holiday traditions I hope to continue. So to the Christmas tree farm we went.

And everyone had a good time including the hubs although he had to cut down the tree in his dress clothes. LOL. The kids were excited to walk through the field of trees, pick out trees (we had to let them know we were only getting one) and “help” dad cut it down.

You see these cute outfits? This mama was prepared! I couldn’t wait to get our holiday looks together. I told the hubs in advance but forgot to show him what I picked out for the kids from OshKosh so he ended up in black. But we all know black goes with everything so it totally worked.

All kids are rocking looks from the OshKosh #holidaychill collection. I love that OshKosh has looks and sizes for our kiddos despite their age range. Baby E went more casual than (my) usual only because the cutest bow tie ever was sold out online and in stores. But this little vest just makes me chuckle.

Z is always about the sparkle and she loves fur, faux and all. And anything with a little flair is always a hit with these girls.

Both Z and Baby E have first Christmas ornaments. Last year the girls hosted an ornament party where all the kids painted and decorated wood letters we turned into ornaments. This year our kids will pick out one special ornament to add to the tree. I plan on continuing this tradition each year with the hopes of keeping them all and giving them to the kids when they are adults with families of their own.

Family Photo Card

Our trip to the Christmas tree farm was the perfect opportunity to take a family photo for our first family holiday card. I’m a card and snail mail kind of gal so getting a good pic of all of us for the first time ever all ready for the holidays was priority. We got a few good shots despite the two year old little guy not being about the photo life. Of course the pic is a secret for now.

The kids look SO cute! I’m planning our outfits for our trip to the tree farm right now. I can’t wait to get our 2nd real tree. Last year, we only had a plant, lol. But real is definitely the way to go. It’s adds an element of life and magic during this exciting season.
