Fab Top Five: 5 Fall Activities for Families with Kids

Fall Activities for Families With Kids

It’s September so you know what that means, fall is pretty much here. I am looking forward to cooler temperatures, more outdoor activities and all the comfort foods my heart desires. I am especially looking forward to the cooler temperatures because we have either stayed home or did indoor only activities with the kids. 90 plus degrees or close to it, is just not going to work for an infant, a toddler and their tired  mama. So now that fall is here, what are my Top Five fall activities for families with kids?

Apple Picking

This was one of the most fun family outings we did last fall. The girls had a blast and mama and papa did too. We are planning to go in a few weeks before the season is over. The trip led to great recipes including banana apple bread and apple hand pies.

Fall

Nature Walk

Fall and Winter are my seasons for getting my workout on. I just prefer to workout outdoors when the weather is cool. Zoe and I racked up many miles with the jogging stroller and we spent lots of time exploring different walking paths, collecting leaves and twigs and talking about the changing seasons. Nature walks are great for story time inspiration as well as arts and crafts.

Pumpkin Patch

Zoe loved running through the local pumpkin patch last fall. She picked out her very own little pumpkins and couldn’t stop talking about them to everyone that came to visit. This year I will definitely make some great pumpkin soup and Baby E will enjoy his very own pumpkin purees.

Fall Garden

I am so disappointed that we didn’t grow our spring/summer garden this year so a fall garden is on our list. Lately I’ve been wanting arugula but it is so expensive so I plan to grow some in our fall garden.

Fairs & Festivals

I love a good street festival. So much so I made street fair inspired sausage and peppers a few days ago. Since we are still relatively new in town, we will be exploring all the fun festivals around town. A quick google search of fall fairs in your area will lead to lots of family outings.

That’s it for now. I’m looking forward to getting out in the fall with my littles so stay tuned.

Can’t wait to make it to the apple orchard and pumpkin patch. We went last year and it was still so hot which kind of killed the fall vibe for me. I’m going to try to wait until the beginning of October to at least go to the apple orchard.

I think we went in October and it was great. Not hot but not cold either.

I’m not sure if we have an orchard out here in Louisiana, but we definitely have a pumpkin patch that my kids love! It was really cool this morning and I can’t wait for all the fall activities.

I have not been apple picking or to a pumpkin patch I think since high school! I get so busy I let these seasons pass me by but I enjoy the beautiful fall leaves and colors. These are great ideas for family fun!

Thanks Nadeen. You should go. I promise the apples I picked were the best we had all of last year.
