Hi Mamas,

My kiddo and I did some fun crafting this week. Her favorite craft of the week are these easy DIY mini crowns we made using paper towel and toilet paper rolls.  So simple to make, so cute to wear and a great way to use something that normally ends up in the trash. Technically they can be recycled but saving them for fun crafts is a better idea.

Why mini crowns? Zoe has two cute crown headbands she loves to wear. Lately, she has wanted to wear one around the house while her doll wears the other one. The problem is the crown headband is too big for the doll. Like most three-year-olds, Zoe will not give up on trying to get the crown to stay on her doll’s head. And yes she gets frustrated when pretend play isn’t working out because her doll can’t rock her princess crown. Mommy to the rescue with these DIY mini crowns. I asked Zoe a few questions about what we can use to make a crown small enough to fit her doll. She came up with all sorts of ideas as did Google. Everything was circular and some just a tad bit too complicated for this tired mom so I decided to get crafty with my stash of toilet paper rolls. Yes, I have a stash. Zoe really enjoyed painting these crowns with me.

We watch The Stinky and Dirty Show on Amazon Kids as a part of our preschool at home lessons on recycling and taking care of our planet. Watching the show while waiting for the first coat of paint to dry was an exercise on having patience which is another life and homeschool lesson we are working on. Stinky and Dirty focuses on being resourceful and inventive and of course, reusing items to create something new. In this case, our toilet paper roll mini crowns are not only something new, they are fun. The episode “Two Minds are Better than One” is perfect for figuring out how to solve a problem with your little. We teamed up and solved the crown for her doll issue.

Everyone can wear a mini crown. Zoe and her dolls get the first pick but mom, dad, big sister and even baby brother can join in on the fun with mini crowns of their own. Zoe really wants our dog Scout to wear one too but he’s is not having it. LOL.

Hello! This helped me a lot! I’m not a mother with a child, but I really wanted to make a pretty little crown for my cat. It was simple to make and the crown looks great! Thanks so much!
