Last weekend Baby E turned 1! ONE WHOLE YEAR OLD! 1.0. I never said these words with Zoe with but this year flew right by. It feels like just yesterday I was coming home from the hospital with my sweet baby boy. Here we are today. Of course, we had cake and ice cream, a smash cake and more. Another event that happens for the big 1.0 is the one-year-old checkup. Stats, chats, and shots! In that order.
Stats
Weight: 22 lbs 3.2 oz
Height: 30 3/4 inches
He is just sprouting up. Then came the chat about his milestones. Walking, check. Talking, check. Climbing while not an official milestone we all know baby’s climb EVERYTHING, double-check. And then the shots. I cry every time. Today it was more of almost tears but my big boy cried for a bit. Then he got dressed and high-stepped out of there. Since doctor appointments with tears aren’t exactly a fun way to celebrate milestone birthdays, I decided to take the kiddos out to breakfast. We also had a friend in town that came along for the fun. Hey, Vashti!
So off to Denny’s we went. Off to celebrate his graduation to the big table aka the high chair pushed up to the table to join in on the breakfast fun. Going out for breakfast on my birthday has always been one of my favorite things to do. I am continuing this fun tradition with my kids. And what fun him and Z had. It all started with the fun cups, yummy pancakes, eggs, and bananas. Z also had sausages.
I enjoyed the new Honey Jalapeno Bacon Slam and the Berry Blue Lemonade from the limited edition Red, White & Bacon Menu.
Vashti enjoyed a yummy Fit Fare platter. The kids got fancy cups for their beverages too. Win!
Fun Ways To Celebrate Milestone Birthdays
- Get Dressed Up
- Go Out For Breakfast
- Buy a Fun Toy
- Throw a Party
- Capture the Moments
We did everything on this list except for buying a fun toy. I’m not really the toy mom but Baby E did get a fun electronic drum board which he loves so that counts. What Baby E enjoyed the most was his cake and his big boy breakfast at Denny’s. He ate eggs, pancakes, and bananas. And by ate I mean he ate the equivalent of 1 big kid plate. He is serious about his food!
But let us talk about the jalapeno bacon for a minute. OMG, who thought of this combo? I want to thank them personally. It was amazing. That alone made me want to try some of the other items. I’m definitely going back before the menu ends on July 11. I definitely have my eye on the Honey Jalapeño Bacon Sriracha Burger and the Maple Bacon Sundae. Listen! bacon in a Sundae has to be the answer to some mama mystery like where is the bottle that went missing 4 weeks ago??? Seriously, where is that bottle? LOL
Denny’s has an exciting sweepstakes that would definitely be a great way to celebrate a milestone birthday. For a limited time, Denny’s and Twentieth Century Fox are inviting you to participate in a fun sweepstakes, with the grand prize being whisked away to the red carpet for the Hollywood premiere of Independence Day: Resurgence!
Who would you want fighting alongside you in the event of an alien invasion? Post your person or group using the hashtag #IDRSweepstakes on Twitter and Instagram and follow @DennysDiner to be entered to win an all-inclusive trip to the Hollywood premiere! Get all the sweepstakes details, official rules, plus view the Resurgence trailer and more here.
If only Baby E and Zoe were a few (or more) years older, they would enjoy this trip to Hollywood with us. Stop into Denny’s to enjoy the bacon fun. The Red, White and Bacon menu is available all day, every day and includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. I’m big on breakfast for dinner so this is perfect. And don’t forget the dessert. I’ll report back on the Sundae soon.
How do you celebrate milestone birthdays?
Thank you, Denny’s for inviting Fab Haute Mama to be an official #DennysDiner ambassador.
As always all opinions are my own.

May 26, 2016 at 3:38 PMThanks Alli. They loved it. Zoe keeps asking to go back. Baby E’s first year flew right by. I didn’t feel this way about Zoe’s first year. I guess I’m a pro now. LOL

May 25, 2016 at 11:04 AMOMG can’t believe it’s been a year! The babies are so adorable. I really love Denny’s so will have to check out the menu. My youngest turns 5 next month, and we’re trying to figure out how to celebrate low-key for her with everything we have going on. The good thing is they don’t need a whole lot to make them happy 🙂
