Thank you, Playtex Baby™ for sponsoring today’s c-section recovery discussion. All opinions are my own. #PlaytexMoms #ForBetterBeginnings
So let’s talk C-section recovery. I am a proud two-time C-section mom but let me tell you, the recovery was no walk in the park. Like seriously, I don’t even get why there are “mom wars” about how a baby comes into the world. We are all moms who rocked childbirth. But about this C-section recovery thing…
Moms, I want to share some of my favorite products that helped me get through the recovery period. There is lots of advice about recovering from C-sections but how many tell you which baby products help? The recovery from Baby E was much harder than it was with Zoë. I think it was a combination of exhaustion, my even more “advanced” age and body and, oh, the recovering while mothering a newborn and a toddler. But a few things helped and one in particular that I never thought I would use… the Playtex® Diaper Genie® Complete. More on that shortly as I share my #ForBetterBeginnings must haves for c-section recovery.
C-Section Recovery Must Have Baby Products
Bassinet
It was so necessary to have our bassinet post C-section. I kept it on the side of the bed close enough for me to pick up the baby with little effort. I biggest fear was tearing my stitches so this was a serious win.
Baby Caddy
A caddy with all the necessary baby supplies right at your bedside is key. I kept diapers, wipes, hand sanitizer, ointment, baby gloves, a few changes of clothes, receiving blankets and more in my trusty caddy.
Wash Bucket
Did you get to take home the little pale pink wash bucket from the hospital? We did and it came in handy both times. A little bucket that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg and isn’t something you had on your baby registry. Sometimes newborns need a quick washing up before their first full at home bath. You know because of diaper blowout and such. Those first poop diapers are REAL! Like really real. So yes the little pale pink bucket was a life safer in those first few weeks. If they ask you if you want to take the bucket home, just say yes. Say it loud and proud.
Diaper Genie®
And now we come to our trusty Playtex® Diaper Genie®. Remember those blowout diapers I mentioned above? They need somewhere to go ASAP! I have to share a funny with you. I truly hate keeping any trash in the house. I didn’t use a Diaper Genie® Expressions™ or Diaper Genie® Complete when Zoë was born. Every single diaper went right outside to the trash can. Did I mention our apartment was on the top floor of a Brownstone? Yep, the hubs did a lot of walking up and down the stairs when Zoë was born. All in the name of “Mama can’t have those diapers anywhere near her”. Can you imagine?
Fast forward to Baby E and just like the commercial, things change for the second baby. Bring on the Diaper Genie® Complete with an endless supply of refills. LOL! I loved this thing and still regret not getting one for Zoë. There is no smell and for a recovering mama, it was quite possibly my favorite baby item in those first few weeks. C-Sections moms go home with a bunch of rules like no bending, no walking up steps and not lifting more than the weight of your newborn. So most of that is impossible to comply with especially if you have a toddler at home. But I didn’t have to bend at all when I had to get rid of those diapers. Nope, the Diaper Genie® Complete has a peddle to boot. Now that’s a #PlaytexMoms win all around. And toddlers love to help with diapers. Zoë was always ready as she would say “I put baby boo boo diaper in garbage”. It was like hitting the new mom lottery around here. The Diaper Genie® Expressions™ is another diaper pail option that is cute and customizable. That’s right mama’s, you get to have all the luxuries of the Diaper Genie® plus you can match your Diaper Genie® Expressions™ with your nursery.
P.S. One of the first chores little ones love to do is take things to the trash. Baby E is a pro at taking his diapers to the “trash”. He was so cute waddling over to throw his diapers out. Now it’s like a game of basketball for him. LOL. We are close to saying goodbye to diapers so thank you, Diaper Genie® Complete. Thank you for making those first few weeks of motherhood with two kids post c-section better. I appreciate you.
Remember to keep the little wash pan you get in the hospital and be sure to buy or register for a caddy and a Diaper Genie® Expressions™ or Diaper Genie® Complete when you are planning for your new bundle. Buy yours at Playtex Baby, Amazon or at our favorite “mommy hangout”, Target.

June 6, 2017 at 4:07 PMThank you, Tata. I have so much more to share about c-section recovery. I know it is important for moms who have had or may have a c-section to find helpful tips from other moms who have been there. I’m sure vaginal birth recovery has its own unique set of tips and for either, all moms need to stick together and support.

June 6, 2017 at 7:08 PMMy must have baby item after birth honestly was a good breast pump. I breastfed my kids and the first time I had an average pump. The second and final time I had the Cadillac of breast pumps and it made the experience much better.

June 28, 2017 at 8:25 AMA bedside bassinet was a lifesaver for me when I had my first child! I was in so much pain after my CS that I could barely stand. Thankfully, we got a bedside bassinet from my parents for my baby shower. Funny thing is, I thought we’d never use it but ended up being the most useful!

July 4, 2017 at 12:27 PMYes Emma, I don’t know what I would have done without our bassinet. Definitely a life saver post c-section.

July 7, 2017 at 11:28 PMI completely agree with the caddy. One of the things I remembered about my recovery was how much stuff I needed to keep close by – medicine, gauze, phone, burp cloths, pumping stuff, yada, yada, yada. There just never seemed to be enough space and nothing could be downsized!
