I’m a believer in having multi-use products as a part of my beauty regimen. Better yet, products I can use not just for beauty.
Turn to your kitchen ladies. You will find you have so many of the ingredients for the “IT” beauty products at your finger tips. Save yourself some money by making your own beauty remedies when necessary. Today’s beauty remedy is a simple raw sugar scrub. This scrub is excellent for exfoliating dead skin from head to toe. I use this sugar scrub two times a week on my lips and once a week on my entire body. It’s also great for banishing dry heels.
My preferred sugar is Sugar in the Raw. It’s the sugar I use in almost every recipe that calls for sugar. Raw coconut oil is my go to for moisturizing my skin as well as Zoe’s skin and scalp. And vitamin E oil was my favorite every day moisturizer during my pregnancy (I swear by it for taming stretch marks.)
Feel free to use whatever sugar, good oil and gentle essential oil you have available.
Ingredients:
Raw Sugar Scrub
1C Sugar in the Raw
1/2C Raw coconut oil (melted)
2 tsp vitamin E oil
Instructions:
Place raw sugar, coconut oil and vitamin E oil in mixing bowl. Using hands (a great unplanned exfolialant) to mix all the ingredients together until well combined. If preparing as gift mix with a wooden spoon.
Place scrub in mason jar. Seal and decorate. Having your jar decorated allows for easy placement. I store mine on a table in my bathroom along with candles. Your scrub has a shelf life of 2 months or more. A quick smell test will let you know when its time to mix another batch. Remember this is a basic recipe therefore you can scoop some out into a small bowl and add in other ingredients such as vanilla, citrus or lavender which are great for variations such as a calming face scrub (lavender oil.)
Do you mix up your own face or body beauty product? Share a tip with us below.
Have a sweet sugar (scrub) day.
XOXO,
MJ
