Pre-K is in full swing and Zoe continues to enjoy her new teachers, new and old friends and learning new things. She is also still excited to pick out her outfits for the week. It’s pretty funny to me that my daughter is all about getting all styled up for school. While I love a cute dress or skirt, I was always happy to rock jeans or pants to school because I was a fun on the playground, jump double-dutch, and race girl. But Z loves the same things except she loves to do them in skirts and dresses. Who am I to argue?
The process goes like this…
Mama (that’s me) pulls out an assortment of clothes based on the weather (and to eliminate crazy kid picks).
Z (that’s Zoe) decides which outfits she wants to wear and on what day.
Z picks out underclothes, socks and any other accessories to go with her outfits.
Mama irons and hangs everything up in order for the week.
Repeat.
It’s pretty fun to do this with Z and of course, there are some debates that happen in between. She some how always manages to go in her closet or her dresser drawers for something that is not on the “pre-approved” mama list. I veto some things and I let other things slide. But watching her pick out her own outfits makes me smile. She’s a spunky one and sometimes changes her mind and switches outfits around after the fact. I can’t imagine what she will be like in high school.
Last week her teacher said, “I love the way you dress her”. I laughed and said thanks but also informed her that Zoe pretty much picks out everything she wears and usually picks out her clothes when we go shopping. She was shocked and said Zoe has a great eye for style. This 4-year-old is definitely living her best fashion life. Here are some of her most recent picks from OshKosh.
Bells, Bunnies & Flare
The bell sleeve on this shirt and the floral design give me the 70’s flower child vibe. And I can’t help but chuckle because there was one infamous bell bottom outfit I loved when I was around 11 years old. A little-flared skirt and bunny booties complete the look.
Art is Life
When I saw the artist tee from the OshKosh B’gosh Be You collection, I knew Z had to have it. I share her amazing artwork all time so this tee is perfect.
And Zoe was thrilled to see overalls in a dress style in her size. It was the first thing she picked out at the store. And yes to these sparkling clogs. Z calls them her “fairy princess shoes”.
I love that all her picks can be mixed and matched with leggings, pants or with each other. A chambray skirt and a pair of overalls are definitely wardrobe staples for any kid. OshKosh has the cutest affordable staples like these and accessories to go with them.
