5 Daily Affirmations for Kids Just in Time for Back to School

Five Daily Affirmations for Kids

Do you practice affirmations with your kids? I love the concept but I admit I am pretty new to doing them with my girl. We pray and we practice gratitude but now I am adding these 5 daily affirmations for kids to our routine because I want my girl to know that positive thinking and positive speak is a great way to work through her frustrations and fears. With the school year getting ready to start, I have already started our daily affirmation routine focused on having a successful school year through self-encouragement and empowerment.

Z has recently started to have a lot of self-doubts. She will give up, cry or get flustered if something isn’t just right. She has started using the phrases “I can’t” and “It’s not good”. It breaks my heart every time she says these things. We talk about it and I definitely encourage her while explaining that it is ok to get stuck, need help or have to start over. My fear is that these feelings of doubt will creep into her school day and eventually take over how she thinks about herself and how she performs in school and beyond. Honestly, I can remember having these feelings as a child and some of them still linger to this day.

Adding affirmations to our day and using them throughout the day is one way I am hoping to build her confidence and to quiet the doubt she feels when something gets hard for her.  We all know school isn’t easy for all kids and while Zoë is ahead academically, I don’t want her to give up when a certain subject or tasks are hard for her. Right now she is struggling with cutting. When she starts to get frustrated, we stop and speak positively about her progress.

5 Daily Affirmations for Kids

  • I Believe In Myself
  • I Can Do Anything
  • I Push Through
  • Take A Deep Breath
  • It’s Ok To Start Again

We have these 5 affirmations posted on our daily chore chart. We also have them written in Z’s daily workbook and I have them written in my planner. While these affirmations are meant to get kids to feel empowered and encouraged, they work really well for moms (and dads) too.

I do affirmations for Pookah every morning before school. Before he gets out of the car, I make him repeat after me! I can always tell the days I forgot to do it. But putting these words in our babies heads is so important to help them succeed!

Yes, girl, I love that. We are definitely working them in during the day.
