2014 was the first officially year of FAB Haute Mama. I started the process of creating this site on July 31, 2013 (my grandmum’s birthday) but didn’t get in a groove until 2014. I have enjoyed the year, gained new blogger friends aka blogger boos, wonderful mentors and developed true and meaningful friendships beyond the blogosphere. Here is my 2014 Year in Review: Favorite Blog Post on FAB Haute Mama.
Brown Baby Love
Why I love it? Moms sharing their stories, thoughts and love for their little ones. Some shared journeys of triumph others shared just how much the little things in motherhood mean to them. The series will be coming back in 2015. See what these moms had to say:
Brown Baby Love: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4.

My Birth Story
This was a brave one for me. This is my very own Brown Baby Love story. I have never shared my complete birth story from pregnancy, to birth, to the post pregnancy storms and surgery. I finally got the courage and I am so glad I did. Hopefully my journey will help someone else.
Avocado Peach Pops
Why I Love It? Easy to make and a great wholesome treat for the whole family. This recipe was totally #toddlerapproved. We have several versions all using avocado as the main ingredient. Cheers to healthy fats!

Apple Picking
Why I Love It? I love when we get out and do fun things as a family. It’s hard to plan with The Hubs schedule change which now has him working weekends. Also because Big Z is only here every other weekend, timing is everything. Seeing the girls get into apple picking with their dad made me so happy. Those apple doughnuts and cider were the best bonus ever for this expecting mama.
Lipstick
Getting together with some of my favorite blogger boos to do this post was so much fun. I love a great lippy but most days I barely make it past lip balm. This post reminded me that I need to put on some lipstick and throw caution to the wind.
Fearless
I really stepped up and put it out there. I am not fearless. I don’t want to live in fear but I had to be honest and share this part of me. We constantly hear “Have no fear” but I think it’s ok to have a little fear just as long as you don’t let it consume you. Fear is what it is and it takes courage to push past it.
Teaching Children About Their Culture
We took a trip to our hometown this summer. I missed it and I enjoyed every moment. Even riding the train! A trip to the children’s museum was perfect for Sugar Plum Z and it gave me the opportunity to see her embrace our caribbean culture in her own toddler way. We have been doing more exploring of our culture so stay tuned in 2015!
July 4th 10K Recap
I reread this post this morning and I cried. I could literally remember every step. My emotions were so heavy thats day. Doing a 10K was the plan B on my bucket list item of completing my first half marathon in 2014. Due to pregnancy and my high risk status, my half marathon goal has been pushed to 2015. However this 10K was just as monumental. Why? I ran it in honor of our family’s hero Private First Class Errol “Elijah” Millard who was killed in action on July 4, 2013. Completing this half on the one year anniversary of his death was the best and only way for me to spend the day. RIP sweet nephew.
What were your highlights for 2014?
I’m ready for a FAB and fun filled 2015. Happy New Year.
XOXO,

December 30, 2014 at 2:26 AMI started my blog in a similar way that you did. My started this year with Mother’s Day right around the corner and I was loving all of my short stories about family and especially my son. I love that you are writing about your baby’s life story as you go along. It will be a great thing for you and her to treasure forever.

It’s great that you’re teaching your daughter about her culture, I do that with my son too, he’s Irish, Polish and South African. I hope 2015 is an equally great year for you 🙂

December 30, 2014 at 7:43 AMWhat an incredible year–and what great posts! Your daughter is absolutely adorable, and I love that you’re working with her to help her understand her heritage. What amazing posts about your birth story: it took me a long time (almost five months) after my daughter was born before I was able to process everything enough to share it. While her arrival was unpredictable and terrifying, I’m so glad I have her! Here’s to a wonderful 2015 on your blog! 🙂
